A life on a journey - My story
I’m Niccolò Baserga, 31, and if there is a word that defines my life is: curiosity.
I grew up in Italy, with a childhood made of nature, animals documentaries, big dreams and a sense of wonder for the natural world. After completing my studies in Sciensec and Technologies of agriculture, I decided to fly to Australia to push my limits with new realities and inputs.
What should have been a trip of 6 months became a journey of 8 years.
In this period I’ve worked in many jobs fields; seasonal work in farms, hospitality, mining and many others. But the one thing that lighted up my journey was photography.
At the beginning I was taking pictures just for my memories, but with time it became much more…a vocation, a language.
I discovered my intense love for wildlife and what this involve; patience, observation, connection and respect. From this point my camera became my instrument to explore the world.
I’ve been in many countries of South East Asia (Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia) and of Southern Asia (Nepal, Sri Lanka) where my passion for wildlife photography grew bigger and bigger.
My last trip brought me to South America. Colombia, Perù, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina entered deeply in my soul. Walking through the immensity of the Andes, seeing the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon Rainforest in Perù and losing myself in the wilderness of Patagonia really marked me and made me realise how everything is connected with us and our essence.
Now when I look back I understand how every trip or photo built my path. Nature is an awesome teacher for humility, armony and wonder.
My mission is to tell stories about the natural world, show what can’t be forgotten.
This is a diary of a walking soul completely connected with the universe.
